free sky sports this weekend

probably a stupid question, but i'm pretty sure that sky update your box through your phoneline to give you free sky sports this weekend, so does that mean if i unplug my phoneline they cant update it to turn it of? heres hoping!

I have never had a phone line connected to my box and i have always upgraded and downgraded my channels with no problem at all.

Whats this free sky sports thing?

I don't have my phoneline connected to my sky box either, but if you've got sky, then the sports channel is free this weekend. Obviously, this is only relevant if you don't already subscribe to sky sports!

my pal hasnt got his phone line connected, and he hasnt got the free sky sports so i assumed it was upgraded via the phone line!

I've just gone & checked on my TV and I'm getting it OK (just as well, or my son would've been really disappointed, as he wants to watch the American Football later on!) We don't normally subscribe to Sky sports.
