I think the tune you're asking about is called , He Who Would Valiant Be, which includes the line "to be a pilgrim".. its a hymn tune written, I believe, by John Bunyan in the mid 1600's. Hope this helps.
AFAIK it didn't chart, or even appear on a single, but it was recorded by Maddy Prior, either solo or with Steeleye Span.
A group called Blyth Power sang it, I dont think it charted though. In have it on a Cd called 10 Years Inside The Horse by Blyth Power.
