A strange question

We often buy documents from Companies House about our main competitors. There is a long history between our director and there's and they've never gotten along. So a few months ago we heard that their director had commited suicide and one person (a customer of both of ours) we know of has been to his funeral. Anyway, upon ordering the newer up to date documents we can see that he is still on there as director but that he has now has even more shares than he had before, all with his signature !

We thought this was odd so called the register office and crematorium and they have no records of anyone by that name. Isn't that odd? What does that mean ? We're just very curious about what they might be up to!

Thanks in advance for any ideas, c~s

Apologies - no idea how that answered. It was intended for another question.

Sorry
Have you tried calling your competitor and asking for him?

If he is still alive (which it appears he is) then maybe someone is just having a laugh (although a sick joke)!!!

Yes we know a few people who have been told by the company that he has passed away. It just seems odd that there are no records to say he has died but he has recently taken on more shares in the company.
Perhaps your customer was mistakenly talking about someone else. Or maybe someone was winding you up? Rumours eh?!

That is what we though initially Twenty20 but there are lots of people within our industry in this area that know. Our first thoughts are that perhaps he owes someone money and wants them to hear that he passed away but is simply hiding away somewhere.
if he does owe someone some money then doing what he has done wasnt very bright as anyone can access the information you have through companies house.
I dont understand why you dont just ring the company in question and ask to speak to him...that should give you an idea as to whether he is alive or not.
If he is dead then I suspect the companies accountants may be doing something a bit dodgy with their accounts..unless of course the shares have been awarded to the man in question to be then passed on to his widow/estate!!!!

I phoned this morning Prince and the receptionist told me that he passed away at the end of April. I'm still none the wiser !
Can you get hold of a copy of their latest company accounts and find out who the auditors are. Then you can field your questions to the auditors and see what interesting answers they come up with. The latest documents you have in your possession may, of course, have been filed with Comapnies House before the suicide took place.
I would contact the media - if they smell a story of any kind, they will uncover the information you are looking for - for you.
Perhaps they have not submitted their 363 for the year since he passed away?

They submitted it at the end of August, jedimistress. Thank you, though. I doubt our local paper would be any good BBWCHATT, they are fairly useless at anything other than birthday announcements, ha ha!
maybe he had a differnet name to the one he used for his company and thats why you cant find his name with the registrar, although i dont know where all the extra shares come in!
