grout

the grouting in my shower, is stained and falling out (probably due to me steam cleaning them to vigorously)
Do I need to now re-grout?
Is it diffcult? and how do I go about it?
Not good with DIY btw. But enthusiasm is there!

There are tools available at DIY stores for helping with the task (at least here in the U.S., where I live). Then the real work beigns. Grout can either be mixed or purchased in ready to use tubs. I like to mix it myself, but that's because one can achieve a larger variety of colors, but the pre-mix is handy and good quality. It's placed in the grout line, but never work to far ahead of the clean up. After getting the grout in and smoothed (I use a well wetted fingertip), let it set for just a few minutes (it should be slightly below the surrounding tile edges) and then using a large pail of clean, warm water and two or three good quality sponges (some are made especially for this task), clean off all the grout and cloudiness from the adjoining tile. Rinse the sponges often. After it's applied, don't walk on it or certainly don't use the bath/shower for at least 24 hours, longer is better. In the shower I'd suggest not using it for at least 4 or 5 days and then sealing it and letting it set for a few more days. The sealer can be brushed on but there are also spray on types in a can. One can, if one wants to, seal the entire tile but I think it leaves a residue I don't care for. Go to it! (Pick up a good book on the complete procedure from the DIY store... well worth the investment)
