...I changed my daughter's surname 10 years ago, I think I only paid around �15 , it can't have gone up that much.!...basically what you do is inform who you need to about her new name, such as doctors, school, dentist, child benefit agency, bank etc, you can do this without any solicitor.... then the solicitor will draw up a "letter" and witness the name change , you will need these documents when she is older , when she needs a passport, or getting married, this is what you pay for, her name on her birth certificate remains the same though....
