Hi all, I have had a bad toothache for three days now and before you say go to the dentist, I am absolutely terrified of going because I have had 2 really bad experiences. The 1st one was when I had a tooth out he gave me 7 numbing injections and I could still feel everything even though he said I couldnt and the 2nd time was when I had a tooth out he stitched my gum together while stitching the hole up where my tooth had come out. Is there anyway I could go and be put out while they do the work on my tooth does anyone know please?

You can be requested to be sedated, but depending on the nature of the work to be carried out, they may well refuse, tho i'm sure someone will do it at a price.
Are you able to go to a dental hospital? They are really good there at dealing with nervous patients,my dad hadn`t been to the dentist for years and was terrified but said going there was the best idea that I`D( LOL) ever had.Good luck.
It took me 20 years between visits, once !
At my appointment, I went into the room and STOOD rather than got into the scary chair. I explained calmly and clearly what my immediate problem was.............I told the Dentist that I was aware that I probably needed 'other' work to be done, and agreed that if he sorted me out 'now' painlessly and completely, having 'listened' closely to what I told him, I would return and he could do whatever else was necessary.............

..................top bloke, agreed; he got me sorted and I haven't looked back since !!
I HATE the dentists...

I had a really lovely guy who was gentle and sympathetic.... alas.. they want completely private and would not treat my kids on the NHS... I then was offered an alternative,,, we went.. and saw a Polish dentist... she examined 4 mouths ( me and 3 daughters) without changing her gloves, and had revolting breath (no mask)....

We went to our NEW dentist last week... we were scared... but we walked in the room... all new gleaming equiptment.... and the dentsit was spanish ans the image of Enrique Inglasias!!!!!

I need 2 fillings... 3rd October is my appointment... CANNOT WAIT!!!!!

I actually like the dentist,i`m going for a filling tomorrow,i love the chairs they are SO comfy,i want one.I like my dentist as well, she`s really nice and we always have a laugh, she says i`m the only patient she`s had who`s ever fallen asleep while having a filling.LOL

Thanks all for your opinions, I am still to scared to go though so am still suffering!
Is there another dentist in the practice you could see? Or is it possible in your area to get another dentist? I can well understand that you don't want to see your dentist again. He should be guided by what you say and establish from you when your gum has been numbed properly.
sounds like you need knocking out before your treatment. talk to your dentist. i had a really bad experience when i was 11 but now i,ve found a dentist who is sympathetic and will work with you.
as for the pain (for the mo) try boots dental pain relief and rub some clove oil on the tooth.
good luck.
