I have couloured my friends hair for about 2 years, I use a wella koleston blonde colour and 12% peroxide. I dyed it all over the very first time, then every few weeks I just touch up her roots (making sure the colour does not overlap) Her hair seems in fine condition and she takes good care of it and uses good products, but will her hair still be ok in years to come if I continue to just touch up the roots?
Can you come and do mine?? :0) Sounds like you're doing a great job if your friend's hair is in such good condition after 2 years of colouring. If you are just touching up 'virgin' hair each time, then I can't see why the condition of the hair should change for the worse. Hair can become very weak and break off if you put bleach and dye on already processed hair, but you're not doing this.
Thank you, I am only doing the very roots, I would just feel so guilty if anything happened as she likes the colour alot! But it takes quite quickly as she is already quite fair to begin with.
I agree, you're doing everything right Casey and so is your friend. You're also using a product that's been around forever so is tried and tested.
The only other thing I would add is that your friend has a regular trim as there is no such product (despite what the ads say) that will mend split ends. There's no reason that you can't keep doing what you're doing....... :-)
Hi casey, I'm a hairdresser and I would suggest that you don't use 12% on your friends hair. It's an extremely condensed bleach which is only used for clients with very dark hair who wish to go lighter. If you dye your hair using peroxide and the colour takes quite quickly then that's your clue that you're using one which is too high. I would suggest that you switch to 9% if your friend has mid brown - dark blonde hair, and 6% if she is mid blonde - light blonde.
