Bands are the frequency range in which the phone operates.

Dual band means suitable for all of Europe.

Tri-band means that the phone will also work in the USA and Canada where the mobile phone network operates on a different frequency.

Quad-band covers every frequency range (as some parts of the Americas are now using a fourth frequency range) and should work worldwide.
