I couldn't sleep so came down for a cuppa, I didn't turn the lights on 'cos I could heard scratching/gnawing type noises in the kitchen. When I turned the light on it stopped. I havent seen any mouse droppings around so could it be a mouse given the recent cold weather? We did have one (or more in the shed) so where should I look for it. I understand that mice have no bladders and therefore 'wee' everywhere they go, and I would prefer not to have mouse wee with my cornflakes.
LOL wolf, yep the cats would do nicely thanks very much. There is a cat next door but don't think he would be much good as he is a useless b*gger who lies around all day except for when he wants to p00 in my garden! In fact I am not sure he even knows he is a cat as I have never ever seen him run, he shows no concept of the dogs v cats law and is preoccupied with licking his 'bits' (though that only proves he is a male!!!!!)
Have you a hardware store locally or better still a Boyes store? You can buy a humane mouse trap, it's just like a plastic lid for a tin that you provide yourself, say an empty and clean soup tin. It has a little flap in like a cat flap, you put something tasty in and Mickey goes in but as the door only opens one way he can't get out, you then pick the tin up (with something long handled in my case) and take Mick out to somewhere safe and liberate him.
wolf63, I think cats all over the world only sleep through the day! Our two have chronic insomnia everynight and wake us up to complain about it, then when we're going about our day with matches in to keep eyes open they're giving it big zzz's
Thanks babz, I will have a look in the local hardware store tomorrow. A humane trap sounds good as I am loathe to kill anything. Lets just hope it is just Mickey and not the rest of the club!
Just a word of caution warpig - if you trap your mouse take it about 1km away to release it because if you let it go in your garden or too near your house it will make its way back! No kidding!
By the way my cats also love to keep me awake - one lets me go to sleep then when I'm safely off she starts walking all over me and yelling in my ear
Useless cats? I've got 5 and I still had a mouse in the kitchen!! Ended up having to Polyfilla its hole. They catch mice in the garden (i'm happy to let them be), but when it comes to the house.... utterly hopeless! And they keep me awake most of the night. K xx
bigmamma - hopefully one that prevents little baby mice.
It was my birthday yesterday and my little brother (he's 40 but still my little brother) gave me a Harry the Hamster in a little ball.
I put the batteries in and took ages to get the globe secured. I put it in the living-room. Merlin took one look at it and then went back to preening herself. Frankie leapt on top of it, burst open the glob and went in for the kill. I saved Harry just before the death bite. I don't think a mouse would last long here.
LOL bigmamma, 'which hole', I like it, heres another three stars ***
Wolf, when I read 'Harry the hamster', I immediately thought that was some relation to a 'rampant rabbit', !!!
Well much to my complete embarrassment I came down last night to check the mouse situation and again I heard the noise. So I managed to deduce that it came from toward the sink and guess what? It was the ivy from outside scratching the window in the window............what a plonker!
Oh, bigmamma, you did make me laugh!! out loud! (and I needed that today). You lot are so nice, even when I'm down in the dumps, you cheer me up!
I was expecting the little blighter to chew through the polyfilla, but he hasn't - i felt sorry for the poor wee thing, but I can't stand mice nibbling my stuff in the cupboards. Anyway, it probably chewed its way out the other side of the wall & is now running round the garden!! K xxx
Hey, warpig - at least the ivy won't wee in your cornflakes!! And wolf - belated happy birthday from me, Monty, Cleo, Gavin, Cassie, Romy, Elsa & Jake!!
