i want to make somerset pork using my slow cooker,al the recipes ive found are cooked in a conventional oven,if i use the slow cooker will i have to fry the pork first before i put it in the slow cooker or will it be ok to chuck all the ingredients in together?
Hello, It says in my instructions for my slow cooker that it is better to cook the meat first before putting it into the slow cooker. I always seal my meat in a pan before tranferring to the slow cooker. Hope this helps.
It'll cook it either way, just looks nicer and arguably tastes better when sealed/browned. I usually flash brown my meat before slow cooking and deglaze the pan with some of the fluid/stock etc I'm using, and scrape that in too.
