What are the lines on my laptop display?

I have a Compaq Armada M700 and four vertical lines approx 1.5 cm have appeared on the screen. They are usually in the centre,but when I am on a page where I can type,such as word,the lines follow my curser around. I have also noticed that if I press on the laptop about an inch and a half to the left of the mouse pad,The line go, but they come back again as soon as I remove my hand. Can anyone let me know what these lines are and better still,how to get rid of them?

Hi,Sorry,I meant right,If I press on the laptop to the right of the mousepad,the lines dissapear !

Hello , are the lines vertical and do they go if you alter the angle of your screen ?
