Based on radio 4's religious slot, "Thoght For The Day," would any ABers care to contribute to our very own ultra clean, but funny version, posting approx four line apiece, and leaving an opening for the follow on.
Naomi and Wizard 69 are experts at this.
Who knows? We may get several contributions from Mibs and Waldo?
I'd love to start it off with a four liner like,
"What are we to think of people who are more interested in shopping than putting a coin in the charity box? For example, just the other day I was .......

Get the idea?

But no! That is NOT the start!
Some other brave soul must start it.
Intellectually challenging and pointless at the same time, but it can be fun!
The thread must stop if it goes too ... you know ... risque!

30,000 children died as direct result of poverty last night and most of you reading this won't give a f__k.

Even worse than that is that some of you will be more upset about the fact that I said 'f__k' than the fact that 30,000 children died last night.

Waldo - Do you have a monopoly on compassion?
Must we sho and psove to you that we care?
Must we lay out our receipts for charitable gicing to prove to you that we are just as caring as you for those less fortunate than ourselves?
Oh! I see! If we were to take time off from caring in order to have a laugh for ten minutes, you disapprove?
Well Waldo, I ain't got much money and never had any, but it didn't stop me supporting my local childerens hospice, or sending enough money to Israel to prevent a Jewish foetus from being aborted!
Honestly, I feel you are judging me. And no, I am not shocked at your language, you are making a point, a valid one, but,
HEY EVERYBODY - FORGET THIS THREAD - IT'S CAISING DIVISIONS ALREADY, AND I DON'T WANT TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT!

Sorry about the spelling! Tennis elbow!
Less 'tennis elbow' than 'gobsmacking over-reaction to a post that I wrote believing it to be in the spirit of your question and not even vaguely having a pop at anyone in particular!'. I wasn't implying I'm some sort of model of charitable giving either.

And - here's the kicker - that's virtually word for word a witty and elegant little argument by a chap called Tony Campolo, a Christian. I happen to agree with it.

I believe your chemist may be able to sell you a chill pill.

Oops - I thought that your going over the four lines was an indication of your desire to kick me..
Even you wouldn't miss the word "four" or thereabouts.

Want to start again?

I'm off to bed. Long night fixing stubborn machines.

That'sm e gone for 48 hours probably. Enjoy!
OK, let's start again:

The other day I was having difficulty tying my shoelaces and I wondered whether to ask God to help. Now my first thought was that surely God has more important things to do than worry about my shoelaces. But is God that proud....?
although really when i think about it why would i want god
to tie my shoe laces? they are my own shoe laces?!
and essentially they will remain my shoe laces (if i have the shoes on my feet and have purchased them etc....)am i being lazy?....
or just philosophical? After all why would this omnipotent being bother with any of mankinds petty little affairs when...
Get thee behind me satan, but forgive me, for I have wind...
