North Carolina, birthplace of the great Earl Scruggs and Doc Watson (amongst others)

Thank you, j2buttonsw. I won't get into a "There's a hole in my bucket" - type situation. I'll look them up on Google ............ I take it they're not cousins who married each other!
LOL, they are legendary bluegrass musicians (Earl Scruggs practically invented the bluegrass way of playing the banjo). Unfortunately, people associate bluegrass with Deliverance and that inbred banjo player (Billy Redden who, incidentally, was in Tim Burton's Big Fish) hence the marrying cousins thing.
hey, Dorset, worder here in New Bern, North Carolina, birthplace of Pepsi Cola. Other well Known North Carolinians both in the states and aroad are: David Brinkley Charles Kuralt Edward Murrow, all three reporters Billy Graham preacher Ava Gardner Pam Grier Andy Griffith Roberta Flack Ronnie Milsap James Taylor Randy Travis, all performers Andrew Jackson Andrew Johnson James Polk, these three ex presidents of the US Dale Earnhardt Richard Petty, both race car drivers Sugar Ray Leonard from nearby Wilmington and Michael Jordan while not born in NC, he's a transplant from New York, raised in Wilmington also. Elizabeth Dole, her husband Bob, i think ran for president, she is or was a top figure for the Red Cross,; she's very much loved. And last, but not least, John Edwards, running for vice presidency 2004. i am a transplant myself, and like Kuralt used to say, i love to call North Carolina home. it's great state, come visit one day!
North Carolina is in the American south; it is where the classic "Andy Griffith Show" was set.

WOW!!!!! That is just so amazing! I asked the question on AB, because I imagined that just typing NC into Google would not give me the answer, ...... but, actually, it does (I've since discovered). But you guys have given me SO much to fuel my curiosity/appetite and imagination. Thank you so much. x
