Does anyone know what the point of wingdings it?

i take it you mean the font...? i use it when i want particular symbols eg. O and P when wanting a tick or a cross within something like excel.

Wingdings is a symbol font with ticks, scissors, telephones and lots of other goodies

..... completely useless if you've never had the urge to replace

with a telephone icon in a document - worth it's weight in gold if you have.

..... but you could say that about times new roman if you never use it

The main point is that they are symbols that act in the same way as a normal font.

To see how this works use the telephone symbol followed by your phone number. Then select the number and the symbol and increase/decrease the font size.

The telephone symbol will increase/decrease size without loosing clarity in the same proportion as the numbers.
