Maddy - Is this too Insensitive?

Im not being funny but why is everyone over looking that fact that Mother McCann gave her child sleeping pills and went out for a meal?

Would everyone be so sensitive if this woman was a 22yr old single mum claiming benefits from Bermondsey Job Centre?

Im just putting it out there.....dont shoot me down....i am just curious as to people opinions?

We can only assume Neti that as they were on a complex they wrongly presumed the children would be ok. I'm not saying it was the right thing to do here, and I never have- they were wrong to leave them. We're all singing from the same song sheet here, just that some of us are on a different line on it :-)

Good grief! These parents did not make a mistake or a misjudgement of a risk assessment. They were criminally negligent.
As doctors they would have been attached to an A and E department as part of their training and Kate is a GP. How many times would they have heard words similar to 'I only turned my back for a second' when dealing with accidents involving children. They, more than others,should have known the risks.
Ice Maiden gave a perfect illustration in a previous thread although I don't think she intended to. She cited a relatives child who drank some dish washer liquid in a couple of seconds when the parents back was turned. The child was very seriously ill and spent time in intensive care.
The point is the parent was there to take immediate action. If the parent had been doing a McCann and was out of the house for ten minutes, the child would probably have died.

I have a 3 yrs old and an 11 yr old. We didn't go on holiday abroad as a family this summer as the little guy is too much of a handful for us to enjoy such luxuries as eating out at night undisturbed! I would however, not dream for one second of either sticking him in a creche all day or leaving him in the room at night, whilst I had a meal! If we are on holiday, (which we will be next year) we do it together, to spend time with each other and to have fun as a family. This may mean that we don't get to chat for hours with our mates in a restaurant and that we don't get to lie on the beach, basking in the sun....but then the children will get to spend time with their parents. Lord knows they spend all day at school, or nursery or whatever, so why do it to them on holiday?

Going back to the answer about Kerry Needham, i can't remember Richard Branson and other ******* queing up to throw money at her to look for her son! It makes a difference when Gordon Brown is one of your mates.

I never thought I'd comment on this type of thread, but have to say that some comments sicken the heart of me.
Boo, I agree with what you are saying.
Also, why the bitchiness because they have bettered themselves in their vocations. They weren't born with silver spoons in their mouths, they worked hard to get the jobs they are now in. Their dads were joiners, not royalty!!
This is my first and last post on this subject, but some of you perfect people have irritated me into making a comment.

It makes no difference to me whether they were rich and educated or not, that poor wee girl is away from her parents who fu&&ed up and are paying for it now, i have stopped reading the papers as its very sad. its only so prominent in our minds cos theres relentless tabloid coverage. its been a good few months and no-one has really seen her so we should forget about being nasty to her parents and let them get on with finding her . god help her x

i feel so sorry for the parents. but they have been very strange on the way they've behaved. i knew the little girl was younger looking, but its such a shame. lets face it there is so much ifs or buts, and so many sightings of that poor little girl. there is so many children who could look like maddie. i guess we all are hoping the same she's safe and well. i hope everyone is united in this. but for one id never leave my children alone in this country neva mind another one. especially they were so young. the parents will have to live with this for the rest of their lives. we can go on forever about this and all have our own views. but at the end of the day i hope the little one is okay and i wish her all the love nd hugs in the world. love to maddie and lets prayer they'll find her xxxx

well everyone is entitled to there opinion, i just happen to know mine is right.....

i really done care how ritious i may sound.....leaving your child unattended is totally wrong, and in that respect i agree with a previous caller.....its criminal neglect...

my heart goes out to maddie it really does, but to teh parents....they can go swivel....

im actually more discusted by people supporting there case....its totally unacceptable....

ps being mate i doubt ill ever make it as a mother....but hey!

Thank you Chompu - my niece is still very poorly, but at least out of intensive care for the time being. These sort of terrible accidents occur all the time, showing that it can take but seconds for a child to injure itself. The McCanns were grossly negligent, however - their children being left in a creche during the day, and left totally alone during the evening...BUT - the fact remains that their child has disappeared. No family deserves that. I would never leave my children alone anywhere, but if one DID go missing, I'd be beside myself. It must be terrible for those parents.

I have said on another thread that I too believe the parents were criminally negligent. I also feel that their actions since in courting the press have hampered the search for Maddie.

However, I still feel that their grief now is genuine and that the suffering they have heen through is simply dreadful. I don't want them to take any more punishment (unless, of course, they are guilty - which I doubt).

I just wish the press would leave it alone now and only report on any definite news. The picture was so obviously not her.
