Which I can then send so that the person receiving it automatically recieves the email in HTML. Like the emails that you get from Amazon etc.
I've changed mail format on my emails to HTML but it still doesn't pick up the HTML tags, i.e. it prints the above verbatim rather than just this would be bold
Having switched the format to HTML you don't need to type the tags, you just select Bold, Underline, etc from the formatting toolbar. If you type the tags, the editor will assume that they are meant literally.
However, the email itself does need to be in HTML - Something to do with needing to include JPEGS.
I should have mentioned, it's not me trying to do this (with my limited knowledge of HTML), it's a friend of mine who knows lots about HTML, but not about Outlook!
You can write the most fancy e-mail you like (fonts, color, jpegs etc), but if the person the other end has the option "display e-mails as plain text" then they will not see it with all the fancy options.
Many people, and companies, set the optinon to view e-mails as plain text because it is easy to hide viruses and other nasties inside a HTML based e-mail.
the latest spammers and phishers are using .jpg, .gif and .pdf to beat the text scanners ... so if your friend does insert - or even attach such files ...
Either now or in the very near future - the filters will get them.
I think what you are after is not really just the HTML option in Outlook but a proper HTML email with images etc in the correct place and format?
To do this we use software called Mailings. This is on Mac and very easy to use but they may do a version for PC as well. There is other similar software out there which will do the same thing. Some are free or shareware, others make a charge.
