Does it affect the car if you put in say 10 litres of unleaded from tesco and then a few days later you put 10 litres of unleaded from say a BP petrol station

What makes you think there is a difference .There should not be a difference as all petrol unleaded should be of equal quality I would have thought .

yeah you cant mix tesco and bp.....it just doesnt mix......

if you have tesco fuel in there you can only mix it with shell, and then once it is shell fuel in there you can mix it with sainsburys.....

Your car will run obviously but there is a difference in the quality hence the dirty diesel fiasco 6 months

I ran out of Tesco milk this morning so I topped up my coffee with Salisbury's milk.

You can only put in petrol from tesco's.

Mixing your unleaded with another unleaded petrol carrys a 12 month ban, and 6 penalty points.

Jeez some people post some sarcastic comments, i used tescos and BP as an example, yes both the petrol from both retailers may be unleaded but i wasnt sure if there different in anyway apart from being from tesco and BP,

Come on DC_FC. Use a bit of common. What would happen if you filled up at your local Tesco then went to Scotland and ran out?

Petrol is refined to strict standards. Which grade you buy should not differ from one pump to another regardless of supplier or where you but it.

Just to add a bit of sanity to this thread, all petrol is made to the same standard, if fact in most areas it comes from the same refinery, no matter the brand, orthough the supermarkets and cheap brands may also buy unbranded petrol on the spot market, oil version of wholesale.

The difference is that the top companies put more additives in it, to clean the engine and some of these may cause a slight improvement in performance and economy.

The last ,bad, supermarket petrol problem was I think that a batch had the diesel additives put in it, the engines did not like the large amount of anti-foaming agent in it.

you need to check your car has a "compatablity diaphram " fitted. this allows the fuels to mix properly and as earlier posts said you can use small amounts of milk.
