No problem, K - in fact I posted a similar link in Crosswords last week (specifically addressed to Christiana) but I'm not sure if anyone saw it there, so two links should be better than one !
Hi cruciverbali ~ thanks for putting up the Spectator link. Many years ago I always entered the Christmas puzzle; in those days it was set by Jac, if my memory serves.
Two questions, if you would be so kind: is the puzzle (in the link) the current one, and are print-out entries acceptable?
Yes rabet, the above is a link to the latest puzzle, published just today. I know that Christiana did e-mail Doc a couple of weeks ago to ask whether print-out entries are acceptable (they certainly used to be). Perhaps she could let us know whether he has replied please ? Thanks for your posting rabet
Thanks for that link Sarumite - I have a feeling you will enjoy this barred puzzle. It is unique in its 14x14 grid, which allows a set of thematically related (and usually unclued !) words to be accommodated each week.
I agree with all of the above ...
Enjoyable I would say. An easier version of Mephisto in the Sunday Times... and a quantum leap easier than The Listener !!!!!
Thank you so much.
David
You were right to say that I would enjoy the puzzle cruciverbali ... it was my first attempt at this one, and it became more interesting once the unclued theme was determined. Thanks for the link. (S)
Hi, sorry for the late posting. Only just noticed the continuing thread. The answer is 'yes', I e-mailed and was told it was okay. Will also post this information directly to Rabet. I haven't had time to look at the crossword yet, but intend to do so tomorrow.
Thank you for answering that Christiana - it looks like the Spectator postbag will be slightly larger next week !
I'm glad this one has been well-received - I must say that the theme is generally a bit more 'exciting' than this week's was ! I look forward to hearing of an AB winner in the near future.
