I read this article about getting off paying a speeding fine.
Has anyone tried it or knows if it is legal or not?

I don't think I'd believe a word on that website.

This however:

.....
When Mr Francis was asked to name the driver in the latest offence he returned the response form (S172) but did not sign it. He was prosecuted for failing, as the owner of the vehicle, to give driver identification to the Chief Officer of Police. The maximum penalty for this is a 1000 fine and three penalty points and the offence also carries the possibility of discretionary disqualification.....

He was fined 60 with 364 costs and given three penalty points

Seems a bit more definative

In a tightening up of legislation this offence will now carry 6 penalty points to crackdown on registered keepers who fail to identify drivers
yep, from the other day, failing to give details of driver carries 6 pts and fine.
