Have been trying for a baby (already have 4 yr old from another relationship) for a while now (6 mths) and have been really positive about it, thinking every month that this will be the one when it happens. During the 2 week wait i feel like ive got loads of pregnancy symptoms and am totally convinced im pregnant every time. Then i get my period and i know they were all in my head.
This month i have been telling myself im not pregnant because i really dont think i am and i think because of this i havent had any symptoms. Still dont know yet as my period is due in 4 days but the cramps have started so i know its coming.
So is positive thinking really better? I think it may make it worse!

right i was adopted my parents tried for ten years to concieve but with no luck my mums friend went through the same thing 10 years no success she adopted two boys and within 2 months she fell pregnant
she puts it down to trying and wanting for a baby so badly that her husband and herself were getting stressed over it, once they had adopted sex was just for fun
my advice would be chill out have sex for sex and if you get pregnant well thats an added bonus or if you are really concerned see your GP

Has your partner had any children maybe he has a low sperm count
I already have 3 children and wanted another one I hadnt had a problem before but 3 years down the line I still wasnt pregnant I used to think the same as you every month I thought I was but got a negative result so I finally put it to the back of my head I decided I was going to learn to ride a motorbike so i started to look for my first bike just after last christmas. However I never got there as im now 25 weeks pregnant.

Dont know if it will help but I thought I would share my experiance with you.
You know I'd love to have an easy answer to this. I had 2 kids (blimey I could right a book I have put this on the pregnancy link so many times.) by a previous relationship fell really easily no problems what so ever. they are now 13 and 10. I met a new partner after my ex and I split and really wanted another baby. waited a year got pregnant, full of problems like spotting etc all the way throughand finally lost it at 4 months. Took another year to get pregnant only to lose that at 8 weeks. Had a hysteroscopy 7 months later to see if there were any internal problems as I am now past 35 discussed Chlomid etc and managed to get pregnant without it. When I look in my diary. In between having a period ,having hysteroscopy and bleeding from that I only had 2 days in which I must have conceived in. I am now due in just over 6 weeks. My husband always told me to be positive which to be honest is impossible when all the way through your worried something might happen. At the end of the day if you get pregnant you will but remember things are different as you get older such as your hormone levels even your partner. Some people have no fertility problems such as my hubby and me but just took forever to get pregnant. Big hugs and hope to soon see you on the pregnancy threads telling us about your good news. Take care ,relax and dont worry too much. xxxxxx

Thank you all so much for your answers. It does help to hear other peoples stories.
My first was a surprise and happened so easily, we had only been going out a few weeks!
My boyfriend also has a child but it was a long time ago (16 yrs) I'm only 28, boyfriend is 34. I know i shouldnt be like this already, some people wait a lot longer i know and i'm still quite young but my boy will be 5 in feb and i wanted him to have siblings near in age.
Its true what you say about stopping 'trying' and then it happens this happened to a friend who was trying for 2yrs and now she has a 4 week old baby!
I know i just need to chill and find something else to concentrate on.
Thanks again everyone x
