Anyone remember this tv show?

Was on Sunday nights probably about 15yrs ago for maybe 6 episodes. About 2 Liverpool teenage lads who go down to rural Wales to lay low from their bad lad ways back home. The older boy falls in love with a local girl & stays, whilst in the last episode the younger boy returns to Liverpool where he is killed driving a stolen car. It is by a now acclaimed playwright and was one of his 1st things on tv ( so acclaimed, Ive forgotten who!) I would particularly like to know the name of the show so that I can start to search for the song that was used as the theme tune. many thanks.

...I love this play, featuring a young David Morrisey, and Spencer Leigh ( who dissapointingly hardly appeared in anything else bar 1 episode of Morse) ....

first shown on ch4 in 1983


..it has never been repeated on tv and has only just been released on dvd this year, aparently old willy was nt happy with the end result....
