my goldfish has just got fatter and fatter. It now swims upside down on the surface of the pond, but when I feed it turns up the right way and feeds normally. Have you any idea what is the matter with it.

Sounds like swim bladder, try feeding it a couple of cooked frozen peas which have been shelled, then fast it for a couple of days to "unblock" it.

If that doesn't work then you can buy special swim bladder treatment from most pet shops. I would try this too.
