anyone own a cellular mobile phone f any desciption before 1988, car phone, hand portible like motorola brick, transportable, which was rather larger than the motorola brick , with its large battery , more like a size of a shoe box .......any replies ?

Dad had a "radio telephone" in his car in the early 80's, I seem to remember around 80/81. It was from "Air Call" and you contacted an operator who got the number you wanted and put it through to you.

Cost a fortune to use! �'s per minute!! Plus you had a huge box in the boot and a massive aerial on the roof like a taxi.
