Is the video on a camcorder tape ? If so, your laptop will need to have a DV-In port.

If the video is on a picture card (ie within a digital camera) then you can transfer via USB ports or, if your laptop has a card reader, then the card can be inserted into that.

If camera - you could use something like Picassa - which once set up lets you import video and photos. Very simple process.

I use a card reader which makes job even easier.
