Ring Transco as they do the pipe work , you might have all the pipes there so just need a meter ,fingers Xed as to have it run in is not cheap .
If your gas supply goes up/down the road past your property they will probably connect it for nothing - this was our esperience albeit 20 years ago.
Things have changed in 20 years, Figi. Privatisation of the public utility companies. They will want some readies for doing this.
It would be finger in the air, back of a fag packet estimates.

You need to get a quotation from one of the gas transporters/suppliers or UIP. Some advice here:

If mains gas is too expensive you could always consider LPG (propane). It means getting a tank installed but a lot of companies do not even charge for this as long as you do the civil works. You will have to buy an LPG compatible boiler and the gas is always more expensive, but you could be up and running for a few hundred pounds, compared to the potential costs of getting mains to your door.I have known TRANSCO charge 12000 to take it across a main road. Also there can be a long wait before they can do the work..Good luck.
