Basically for him to get Police Bail (under PACE), it will have to be endorsed by the custody sergeant of that station. He or she has to be satisfied that the case is running smoothly and expediously before he even considers bail.
If there is only one CPS lawyer in the station I assume it is only a small station. However, an appointemnt between a police officer and the lawyer should only take 15 or so minutes.
Are you sure they are not waiting on anything else such as further statements, medical reports, CCTV transcripts etc?
Your solicitor will have access to the the custody record of the defendant and there will be (or SHOULD be under PACE!!!!) the full reasoning behind the re-bail.
