unfortunately is is true.. the story was run in the local paper here yesterday. not sure how to post links - sorry! but if you want to read the story the website for the paper is www.icwales.co.uk.
what kind of parent would want this for their child? the same type of parent who dresses their 11year old in cropped tops with dodgy logos on them and high heels no doubt. talking of which - i saw a young girl the other day - no more than 9 years old - her top said "play the game.. make a pass"! asking for trouble i think?

Personally I think that any mother that would agree to a child having pole dance lessons needs her head looking at. But hey, thats just my opinion. Round here the local community centre runs council funded courses but usually only stuff that they have made sure they have enough folks to attend so its not a waste time and money. Maybe theres a demand in Cardiff for this kind of thing? who knows? stranger things have happened :s
squarebear, Im a bit confused here, if you cant see the link how do ya know it explains it all? (I can't see it either and I do have media player lol)

Must be a slow news day because they ran this story months ago and the youngest enrolled on the course was 7.
It does appear to be inappropriate but have you any idea of the level of fitness required to pole dance properly. They don't take their clothes off, I doubt they do any grinding,or hip thrusting, hopefully its just normal dancing with the pole as a prop. Remember its only sexualised if someone sees it that way. I'd probably send my own kids to a normal contemporary dance class but I'm not up in arms about it. Just because it available to 11 year old doesn't mean 11 year old will be taking it up and if they did it doesn't mean all they are going to aspire to be are lap dancers.
On the face of it I really don't agree with it but I doubt its quite as its perceived as I have seen a pole dancing lesson on telly and its not as seedy as you would imagine it at all.
