Price of petrol V's Lager
18 Answers
Why is it people moan about the price of petrol being 4 pounds 50 pence (sorry I haven't got a pound sign on my Kiwi keyboard) which works out at 56 pence a pint
considering the engineering process involved to get this to the pump from the bottom of the seabed. Then think nothing about paying 2 pounds for a pint of lager which is fizzy tap water with some chemicals in it?

However, petrol is not a "luxury" - booze is. Nobody needs to drink (except me at weekends ;-p) but most people need petrol to get to work, to the shops, visit relatives, etc. so it's a bit unfair to keep hiking up the price when in reality it is more tax for the government.

Whick's printer ink joke has gone sailing over my head... could anyone explain it please?
And to answer the question, I rarely drink larger and I don't drive so for once I don't have much of an opinion!

They moan about the price of petrol because it is so expensive compared to other Countries. Why? because it is taxed so highly, plus thanks to this Govt. it will be taxed another 2p a litre next April. I suppose the cost of negating WMD is coming home!
I'm in Cape Town at the moment and it costs 45p/ litre. Same production costs just less tax.
