Any ideas how to improve the effectiveness of of a toilet flush?

look inside the cistern and see if its possible to set the water level a bit higher to deliver as much water as poss

its all in the wrist mate. Flush from the wrist and not the arm, gives you more flush lol

Fit a longer lever to be able to give it more ooomph?

Depends on whether you are having trouble flushing away offending items or want to use less water because of your meter.

Answer to first, take less fibre in your diet and to save water put a brick in the cistern (yes a housebrick).

Use a plastic drinks bottle full of water rather than a brick
