Cloisonne is usually enamel work on a copper base material. We use luke warm water wth a drop of washing up liquid well stirred and an old tooth brush. ...and rinse well under running cold water...dry immediately. Most impostant is not to get the item too warm because the copper has a greater rate of expansion that the glass enamel and it could break the bond between the base material and the enamel
