When I flush the toilet, as the water stops flowing, it makes a terrible screeching noise which continues for about 10-15 seconds. Anyone know why or how to stop it please?

its just air in the pipes, you might notice when you wash hands after taps make same noise you're supposed to run cold taps in bathroom for a while till it stops and that lets air out. Unfortunately mine still does it and sounds like a steam boats horn every time :-)
Try adjusting the 'ball' in the cistern this worked for me.
Reduce the pressure, if you can find a stop **** on the pipe to the toilet.
Oh, you know what I mean!

Thanks everyone, I'll try them all. I don't really mind too much but the noise is upsetting the puppy.
