We have found a great house to buy but it has an electricity substation within a few metres. It looks quite small 2 grey boxes and what looks like a radiator, enclosed within fencing. Yesterdays newspapers highlighted the increasing concerns over health risks associated with overhead cables & mobile phone masts in a report from an organisation called SAGE and said a further report will be published regarding substations. Does anyone know of an independant company in West Sussex who will test for electro magnetic fields or does anyone have any experience of living close to a substation?

and me, bang next door to one from 1978 to 2019, and i`ve turned out ok. my mum keeps asking me why i insist on having spiky hair as its not lady like. She has 4 legs and my dad is popular in the village for his triple manhood.
My wife and I have recently moved after living within 30 feet of an electricity sub station for 40+years.. Neither of us have any known adverse effects of having done so.

However , our neighbours, a married couple who lived closer to the sub station than we used to have both passed away.

He was 93 and his wife 87.

I would not let the presence of a sub station affect my decision on buying a property .
I have lived next to a sub station for about 25 of my 40 years. 1 a very large one from aged 3 to 18. no problems and now for the last 6 years in my own home. no problems. Did you know that if you are unsure about a sub station you can get in touch with your electricity board who will give you info about the company who maintains the station and you can contact them to test the station free of charge for you. the sub station omits somthing called micro teslers ( think thants how you spell it) I live next to a single phase station and at the end of the garden there are no more micro teslers that when you start up your every day electrical appliances in the house. so what are you worried about. people who say you should be worried are just implementing scare tactics. never let one put you off. get your facts right before making a rash decision
