Do you mean when you go to Display settings that...THEMES...are gone.

Try..

Start /Run and type services.msc...press Enter key to open the Services window.

Navigate to Themes service� right-click on it and select Properties� make sure that the Start Up type is set to Automatic�if the service is stopped�click the Start button to start it.

You set the desk top background from the Themes tab...

Do you mean you have this tab but underneath background everything's missing...vortex/tulips/xp/bliss/autumn etc...

I find sorting something out a little difficult unless i have the machine in front of me...it can only be try this try that etc :((((
