Infected graze?

I fell over last Wednesday and scraped the skin off my knee. It's in such an awkward place, so everytime I sit for a long time it starts to heal then I move and it all cracks open again (sorry that sounds gross!!) - it is SO painful and I can't believe I am hobbling round like an idiot for such a small injury but it doesn't seem to be getting any better and is just as painful as it was when it happened!

I have now covered it today for the first time to try and keep infection out (I was just letting the air get to it) but I am worried it is infected already - is there an easy way to tell? Thanks

Try putting some aqueous cream on it, that will stop it cracking
let a doctor or his nurse see it asap it could have a nasty infection in it, i know of 2 horrible cases personally caused by little injuries like this.
