Help ! I dont know how to fix it...

Iam trying to write an essay, but when I go back to the text and write in something new, it erases the text that comes after it !! Its really annoying as if I want to insert one word it messes up my whole essay. Please can someone help, it has to be sent away in about an hour !

Press the Insert button - it's just above and to the right of the enter key. That will turn off the text overide.

You can't imagine the number of times (to paraphrase Bill Bryson) that I've written a long paragraph only to find that my words have been eaten, pacman style because of that function!

And what genuine purpose does it serve??

None that I can see.

It has happened to me a few times before and I've never been able to find out how to fix it!

I can't think of any purpose for it either.

Thanks, I always find that as much as I enjoy a book, I come to loathe it when trying to write an essay.
No doubt I'll like it again after Im done!
