Dishwasher is staining plastic orange
3 Answers
Over the past 2 - 3 weeks, anything which is white plastic which has been put in our dishwasher has been stained an orange, shade including the white plastic cutlery container. Can anybody suggest what is causing this? We have an orange plstic "freshen-up" disk in the diswasher but these have been used for a long time without problems and we can't think what else might be causing the staining.

Strange it should happen for so long. Check your filter basket is clean and the machine is emptying water properly. If not you are rinsing in part dirty water. Use a dishwasher cleaner (such as Finish) and see if you have solved it.
Never used anything to keep my dishwasher fresh (your disk may be the problem if the manufacturing has changed). Have, without problem, but dont recommend in case you sue me, squirted a little bleach in the bottom before starting a load.

Rabbity is right, this is usualy caused by some tomato based food residue on dishes - I would skip the bleach and just add a little extra dishwasher detergent for a couple of washes. If you usually use tablets, either break an extra chunk off, or buy some powder to top it up. Dishwasher powder or tablets disolved in hot water makes a great cleaning solution for the rest of your kitchen and bathroom as well.
