Good hostel in Amsterdam?

Im hoping to spend my 30th in Amsterdam with perhaps up to 50 people aged between 18 and 40 in January. Id like to stay in a hostel as its far more relaxed for hanging out with so many people but dont want to stay with loads of 18 year olds getting stoned. Any suggestions, as even Lonely Planet doesnt really say whats good?

Not wishing to put a damper on things, but my guess is that a lot of people may be a bit hard up after Christmas.

Asking them to pay for flights and hotels to Amsterdam in January may not go down to well.

Of course you may be treating them all, which is great, but if not I think you may find a few drop out after Xmas, which may spoil your 30th birthday.

Just a thought.
