Park Homes
3 Answers
Hi, wondered if anyone has had any experience of living in one. Advantages and pitfalls. Have also posted this in the property section, but you are all so very helpful here as well and thought that you may have ideas. Considering selling up when we retire in a few years, and buying one.
Many thanks Jeanette

I think they are a brilliant idea but they are expensive and perhaps there are site fees to pay. If you have a house to sell and have paid off your mortgage then it may be a good idea to rent something for a while, spend your hard earned cash on enjoying yourself don't worry about leaving it to your kids (if you have any) thats what me and Mrpuss are doing.
I think that you would need to look into it carefully, I think that there will be regular site fees and also, I believe that it can be expensive to keep them adequately heated and damp free - Most peoples experience of using mobile homes is from using them during the summer, I would imagine that winter might be a very different prospect. Is there any way that you could do a short term let to see how you get on? I would guess that it would depend on where you live, or are choosng to retire to.
Hi Pussnboots and Annie,
many thanks for your answers. My husband retires in 4 years and after visiting a friend who lives in a park home in a beautiful site and being surprised at the amount of space, we are considering doing the same. Am researching thoroughly and at least still have a few years to make our minds up. Annie they can be much roomier than a mobile home with rooms a very similar size to some houses. We are thinking of a retirement park where residents all have to be over the age of 50.
Thanks again both of you.
