BT �120 connection fee rip off

how is it possible to get out of paying BT the �120 connection charge that they are asking for the connect a phone line to the newish build flat ive started renting, there are sockets in but i don't know if prev tenants had it connected up or not

if its had a previous bt conection mkjuk there will be a wire from a post in the street
they dont do underground conections mate

You can't avoid it unless you have a cable company running its network past your flat.
With BT it is swings and roundabouts - a flat fee irrespective of where you live.
The sockets are generally fitted to new builds, irrespective of whether they are connected - stops them having to run cables around the window when installation actually occurs.

dont go with BT, go with someone else.

Except when a cable company happens to run past your door, you have no choice on initially getting the local line set up. THEN you may be able to get unbundled from the BT local loop. Its still �125.
