hotels in Dubrovnik
Can anyone recommend any hotels in Dubrovnik - preferrably near to the old town. I loved Dubrovnik and a colleague is booking on my recommendation - only problem is we went to an apartment and she would prefer a hotel. The two near us were the Argentina and the Excelsior but I feel they might be a bit pricey but others she is finding are around 10km away and I dont really know the area. any help appreciated.

I am lucky enough to be invited to present at a conference each summer in Dubrovnik - at the Excelsior Hotel.
Snag is, it;s one of the best hotels in town (and probably one of the most expensive too)
The upside is that you get a view of the old town from most of the sae facing rooms, and it's only a 10 minute walk to get there

This Dubrovnik website splits the hotels into Dubrovnik & Dubrovnik region. you could have a look at the ones in Dubrovnik & then check them out on Tripadvisor & see how people have reviewed them. Or just go to Tripadvisor and have a look at what people are recommending.
Dubrovnik old town doesn't have beaches of course but I stayed in Lapad bay area of Dubrovnik many years ago which was just a few minutes local bus ride away & had more beach type hotels.
