tea stains on worktops

Can anyone recommend anything to get tea stains out of my white melamine work surfaces?

I live in a rented flat and they are the cheapest white slightly textured worktops a landlord can afford with the result that they stain really easily...particularly with tea and now look embarrassingly dirty...

Does anyone know what I could use to get rid of the stain or bleach it? I have tried normal chlorine bleach and it did nothing, so any other suggestions would be great!

I alwas use thick bleace on my work surfaces. just put in on neat and leave for a while.

Try soda crystals.
Someone told me about them the other day. about how they were brilliant at removing tea stains from cups. they are amazing, I diluted them in hot water, put my cups in the solution, waited 20 minutes and then with a little gentle scrubbing the stains washed away.

I use a combination of bicarb and a very light amount of bleach - too much can make the melamine brittle. Nevertheless, it does work!

Alternative to bleach is baby sterilising fluid. Can also be used to get tea stains out of mugs.

thick bleach...leave the window open...pour on..leave for a while...wipe off....and then invest in one of those glass tabletop savers...good luck!

It would be easier to apply if you soak a ball of cotton wool in the bleach and leave the cotton wool on the stain.
