Glasses to blame ?
7 Answers
Three weeks ago I picked up some new glasses. That night I turned over in bed and I felt so giddy that I had to hold on to the bed as I felt as though I was going to fall off.It was very scary.
The next morning I rang a pharmacist who said it sounded like sinus trouble and told me to inhale steam over a bowl of hot water.I did this for several days and the giddiness did not seem so bad. However,I still felt rather swimy and "heady". A few days later I still felt groggy so we made an appointment to see my doctor. He examined my ears and said that I had a polyp in one of them and that could be the problem. He gave me drops which I have been using, and I have to go back next week.
In the meantime I am still wearing my new glasses, and I find that when I go outside I still feel quite "heady"and swimy. So this afternoon my husband told me to go back to wearing my old glasses and see how that feels.
Could it have been my new glasses that made me so giddy and not the polyp in my ears?
I would be so grateful if somebody could shed light on this problem.

Whilst any new pair of glasses requires some acclimation, I feel in this instance its more the matter of the polyp. Im gathering that it had swollen a bit, which would have directly affected your equilibrium. If you have your old glasses and it brings more comfort to you, during this brief time, then I shouldnt imagine there is any problem in continuing to waer them until such time as youve resolved the matter of the polyp. If your giddiness or matters with equilibrium continue, please be sure to visit your GP again. It could be a warning sign to other matters such as blood flow, blood pressure and matters related to the optic nerve.

I agree with Ethel ! My Husband spent over 500.00 on new glasses only to find that the lenses had been put in the wrong way round. Made him feel very dizzy also. High street optician not amused when we complained that the prescription was most definately incorrect - however it most certainly is worth a visit back to your optician - as mistakes do happen.
All was fine when lenses were changed !!
