How can I toilet train my baby Hamster?

It was years ago, but I seem to remember putting a jam jar lid in the corner of my hamster's cage and he used it as his loo. He didn't need training, it came naturally. They are very clean little animals. In fact, most animals are naturally clean if given the correct care and housed correctly.
