How can I get the url to appear in the address bar, sometimes it appears at the bottom then says terminated! Do'h, help please, I am on Firefox if that's any help and do not know how to uninstall and re�stall, in fact am too scared to try it.

Don't be scared to uninstall firefox - do it through add/remove programms. When you reinstall you will still have all your bookmarks and everything.

Now I am confused as to what your problem is. Can you try explaining it again, please?

Well, none of the back/forward buttons work they are grey, and at the bottom just above the toolbar(?) are www. and other things telling me to read something at amozon at the moment, and I'm always bothered by tradedoubler! Sometimes I can type the url into the addy bar but they don't always let me copy and paste. I give up.

Don't give up. Uninstall as I said, reinstall and use an extension called adblock plus - that should block the advertising:

Have you got a firewall, antivirus and antispyware?

Ethel I seriously consisdering uninstalling Firefox, but can you tell me: If I uninstall it, where do I re install it, will I still have Google and will I install it there? Whenever I open a window, the message "cannot open this etc" and then it immediately opens - strange isn't it?

I imagine you still have Internet Explorer on your system - download firefox through IE from this site:
