can anyone tell me if there is a special rate using a prefix to call the uk from the states at a cheap rate?
i know you can do it the other way from the uk for 1p a min.

I can only comment on Florida. We went ther 2 years running and picked up an international phone card, from a flea market stall, for $5 and had plenty of LOW rate credit to call uk.
Before you buy compare the rate per call on each card and ask the assistant what you get for the money. If they are half decent they will let you look at the card first before you buy.

Have read these postings with interest as I am off to the States for 3 weeks in November. Cherie, for instance, you say your Mum spoke to you on your UK mobile..... did it cost you anything your end, to accept the call?
I find that is a big problem with mobiles when abroad - the costs of receiving calls/texts/voicemails etc.
Is there anyway theses costs can be avoided?
