positioning chilli plants

can i place my little chilli plant on my windowsill where it is light? Or if not where ?

I think they need as much light and warmth as they can get. I grew 4 in my conservatory this summer, they reached 3 ft tall and were loaded with fruits.

We were out at a curry house once when a waiter produced a green chilli from his pocket and said 'try this - carefully'. It nearly blew our heads off. He explained that his mum grew them in the kitchen, and the special heat came from her habit of regularly standing the plants in front of an open oven.
