I had 2 tickets for the Police concert in Manchester for Tues - I checked in at the hotel on Tues pm, but it wasnt until later that I was told by receptionist the concert had been cancelled as Sting had sore throat!!
There were loads of other people in the same boat as me , including someone who had flown in from Spain ....where/how do concert organisers let ticket holders know of cancellations as could have saved travel and hotel expenses?

They don't!

If you check the small print - it will advise you that you enter into a contract with the promoters whereby they reserve the right to change or cancel the concert without notice - and those last two little words mean that you are annoyed, disappointed and out of pocket, and they are none of these things.

It is normal to re-schedule, and the original tickets are valid, but if that doesn;t assist, you can get a refund. The travel and hotel expenses are lost, unless you booked with your credit card - they may refund as part of their insurance deals.

You should always book these things with a credit card - sorry if that advice is too late.
I took an automated message received at work on the morning of the 16th for a colleague who had booked through Ticketmaster. It was telling her the concerts on the 16th and 17th were cancelled because of Stings sore throat and to go onto their site for more details.
Yes, we had tickets for the Monday concert but were advised by Ticketmaster in the morning that it had been cancelled.
