I had a date arranged with a guy for tomorrow nighthe did most of the chasing, texting etc and he just text to cancel. Gave an excuse, which I know isn't true based on some information he has given me previously. Do I reply or not? Really quite annoyed as messed up all my plans for the weekend. The excuse he gave is not something which will mean he is likely to want to meet up at another time.

Text him back and say how relieved you are that he cancelled as you have been trying to think of a way to get out of it as you didn't want to go as something better has come up.
i dont understand why it would ruin your whole
weekend. can you not go out with friends etc
what did he say that makes you think it is an
excuse
I totally agree with Daffy.
Make the loser squirm a bit chick. You deserve better.
Don't reply - Don't give him the satisfaction. If you send a message as Daffy says you should he wil know you are really bothered. Just let it go...go out and meet someone new.

But then he might think she's sat at home, too timid to reply and waiting for him to get in touch!!
No, my advice (as a woman) is to text back, all sweetness and light, saying how relieved you are.
sssg4 what was the excuse the ratbag used?
if youre really sure hes just unsing an excuse then send one back saying 'was the date tomorrow, i had it down as next week, good job you cant make it then'
just text back a simple "no probs"
I feel you would be the better person not to reply. Simply forget about him.

Many years ago I remember a girl I was 'chasing.' It was she who cancelled several times on me. I being the always polite individual let it roll off my back. After this happening twice, she phoned me to say she was 'available' should I want to take her out on Friday night.
I 'accepted.' But by Thursday, my friends had given me an earful of what I dope I was to go out with her and that she was just using me.
I phoned her...only getting her answerphone..leaving a message that I had to cancel. I was polite but did not give an excuse. In my message I said I'd phone her later. I went out. When I came home there was a message on my phone from her, full of expletives and aggression demanding to know what reason 'I' would have in cancelling a date with her.

I phoned her back. Of course, as always, she was monitoring her calls. She didn't pick up. I apologised again, saying something had come up that I had forgotten about. I told her I had to clip my toenails on that night.

I never heard from her again.

And I'm glad.

No: be a better person. Forget about him!

go out and live!

Ah, Father Bill, whatever happened to "Vengeance is mine...."
I was a young, misguided ......and randy youth :-)

Oh my...those were the days...

toby has the right idea, dont text him back , go out and have fun, that will put his ego to bed :D
I'd still want to stick it up his nose sssg4.
And I'm a Christian, too!!
He will be waiting for you to text him. PLEASE DON'T even though you will be desperate to. Trust me you will only regret it ,as it won't change anything, it will only show him that you care and you still won't have date. What a creep texting you instead of ringing you to explain. Rest in the knowledge that your silence will give his ego as massive knock like Cazzz said. Speak to us if you start to weaken and have the urge to text him!!!!
Yeah, definiately don't text back, if I cancelled a date and the person I'd cancelled on sent me a message like the ones people are suggsting I wouldn't believe it for a second and would find it quite amusing and a little pathetic that they were attempting such a thing. Either ignore it or just send one saying something like, 'okay, cool, see you around'
Don't answer back. EVER.
