Gross question alert!!

Hi all well I've had a bad cold for several days now and yesterday the edge of my nostril was sore and I just put it down to too much blowing my nose only this morning I've woken up with a huge cluster of red and yellow spots inside my nose and growing out of it on the edge of my nostril!! It is really sore and has caused my whole nose to swell to nearly twice its size and my eye and cheek and the whole side of my face is slightly swollen and sore too. Has anyone had anything like this before and what can I do to help it get better?

I have no idea what it is but I would get onto NHS direct ASAP as it could be one of those infections that just gets worse and worse.

I had a cold sore on the side of my nose after a rotten cold once. Apparently they can spring up on and inside your nose as well as your lip. Does it look anything like a cold sore? I just put zovirax on it til it went and resisted the temptation to mess with it in case I infected it. If your face swells any more or if it doesn't look any less inflamed by tomorrow get yourself to the docs, it might be impetigo which will need antibiotics.

The doctors have special antibiotic creams available for nasal infections.

I'm with jiggy, sounds like herpes. I sometimes get them elsewhere too. The first attack is usually the worst and should heal quicky (about 10 days) but I'd make an emergency appointment with the doc to get a sample as they can't identify it if it scabs and dries up. I was misdiagnosed with having dermatitus the first time I asked.
