its amazing! you never heard anything like this 20 years ago. I blame the parents and technology today for making playing a Playstation for more important that doing your homework and learning.

The parents should be making sure their kids are getting an education, instead of hanging around shops getting peesed and mugging people.

Its a disgrace.

I find it totally baffling.

This suggests that a child goes through ten years of school without doing anything at all.

There are just as many children nowadays who can't read as there were in the 1950's, it's just that many of the more manual jobs (mining etc) have gone now and we are increasingly headed towards a service lead society which means people are expected to use their literacy for their work.
This is just more tv propaganda to beat the government and teachers with.
